The energy transformation with the development of renewable generation is profoundly changing the structure and operation mode of distribution networks. Distribution networks are not only the important platform to accommodate distributed renewable generation, but also embrace the wide integration of novel electric loads. The power electronics-based distribution equipment provides a promising way to solve the spatial-temporal imbalance of energy supply and demand. The flexible interconnection and power controllability have obvious improvement effects on operation flexibility, economy and reliability of distribution networks. Driven by the flexible interconnection equipment and technologies, numerous changes, novel network structures and operation scenarios may occur in AC/DC hybrid distribution networks.
